Transition to Voalte – The Clinical Communication Revamp Project

Clinical Communications Revamp (CCR) Project

The CCR project exists to establish a clinical communication standard, something which does not exist at Loma Linda today.  This project aims to enhance communication workflows in the healthcare setting by replacing our existing, legacy Spok paging solution with Voalte, a comprehensive solution that enables communication workflows to be fulfilled from many different devices, such as inpatient smart phones, personal cell phones and hospital workstations.

Clinical Communications Revamp (CCR) Project for Voalte

What is the Voalte Suite

The Voalte Suite offers a comprehensive communication solution for healthcare professionals, consisting of three key components: Voalte Me, Voalte Messenger, and Voalte One. Voalte Me empowers healthcare professionals to securely communicate and collaborate using their personal devices (replaces Spok mobile), enhancing flexibility while maintaining stringent security measures. Voalte Messenger provides a robust platform for exchanging messages, sharing patient information, and streamlining communication workflows, leading to improved coordination and patient care from your desktop or workstation. Voalte One lives on our inpatient smart phones, expanding communication capabilities across various areas, with a focus not only on Voice and Text functionality, but also Nurse Call and other alarms.

Spok Mobile to Voalte Me Transition

The Spok-Mobile to Voalte ME project official transition completed on January 15th, 2024.

Existing Spok Mobile users should switch to Voalte immediately and use Voalte as their primary tool for clinical communication.

If you need help gaining access to your Voalte account or need help logging in, please contact the service desk at x48889 or log an incident via Service-Now HERE.

Training - Voalte training will be provided through an online Owl course that can be accessed through the Owl Portal.

Pager recall - Spok paging services will remain active throughout the transition. All unused pagers should be returned immediately. Used pagers will be recalled at a future, house-wide date. All unused pagers should be returned immediately. Pagers can be returned via intercampus mail to:  Room #B-729, 11234 Anderson Street, Loma Linda, CA 92354 (Hinshaw Towers)

Question on pager returns?  Please contact Daniel Jacobo at x54165 or Lucy Sistoza at x55228.

Voalte One

This communication tool caters to clinicians using hospital-supplied devices, providing voice communication, messaging capabilities, and patient alarm integration.

Voalte One Quick Guide

Voalte Me

This communication tool is primarily utilized by providers and staff using their personal mobile devices, enabling secure collaboration and flexibility on the go.

Voalte Me Quick Guide

When installing Voalte Me, you may encounter prompts to grant permissions for your phone dialer or camera. It's important to note that Voalte offers enhanced functionality compared to Spok Mobile. Therefore, granting these permissions is necessary to fully harness all the features and tools available in Voalte ME. Failure to do so could potentially impact your ability to initiate and receive calls effectively.

Voalte Messenger

This communication tool is predominately utilized by staff working at desktops, offering a robust platform for messaging, and streamlined communication workflows.

For more information, please consult the "Moving from Spok to Voalte".

Yes, consult pages can be received through messaging in Voalte. For detailed instructions, please refer to the "How Will I Receive Consult Pages in Voalte".
Absolutely! Group messaging is available in all of the Voalte applications. You can refer to the "Sending Group Messages in Voalte" for guidance on how to utilize this feature.
While you can log into any of the Voalte applications if granted access, only one active session is allowed at a time. If you are logged into one application and attempt to log into another, the first application will be disconnected upon logging into the second one.
That process to request Voalte has been in place since August 2021 and will not change. Managers should continue to create an access request in Service-Now for a team or individual to gain Voalte access. Type of access can be specified at the time of request.  Managers will also need to submit a hardware order for one or more iPhones, if needed.
