Our Purpose
Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital (LLUCH) and Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) leadership commits to improving antibiotic use in our facility. Facility leadership is committed to creating a culture that promotes the importance of antimicrobial stewardship. Facility leadership is also committed to embracing and executing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Core Elements of Antibiotic Stewardship for Hospitals and The Joint Commission Standards and is confident that judicious use of antimicrobial agents and improved patient outcomes can be achieved.

Our Vision
Through collaborative multidisciplinary efforts improve patient outcomes:
- Promote optimal selection, dose, duration and route of administration of antimicrobials
- Reduce risk of unintended consequences of antimicrobial therapy
- Promote reduction of antimicrobial-related healthcare expenditures
- Monitor antimicrobial resistance patterns and antimicrobial usage
- Provide education to our trainees and clinicians
- Provide clinical guidance for management of infectious diseases
CDPH HAI Antimicrobial Stewardship Honor Roll
In May 2022, LLUCH received gold level designation for the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Antimicrobial Stewardship Honor Roll. This designation acknowledges LLUCH’s work in optimizing antimicrobial use and preventing the emergence of antimicrobial resistance and C. difficile infections, and also demonstrating outcomes that follow national guidelines as well as engaging in the local healthcare community.
