Drill

Drills and exercises test operational capacity and help to identify areas for improvement. LLUH conducts quarterly disaster exercises to prepare for probable hazards and emergencies. Smaller mini-drills build capacity within specific departments or functional areas on specific topics of interest. |

Training combines knowledge about emergency response and procedures with the development of specific skill sets. Training options at LLUH include: HAZMAT for Healthcare (patient decontamination), Stop the Bleed, and Patient Evacuation Device Training - Operational. |
HAZMAT for Healthcare
(Patient Decontamination)
The HAZMAT for Healthcare course provides in-depth training on patient decontamination principles, use of Level-C personal protective equipment, and mass decontamination operations and equipment. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive Cal OES CSTI and FEMA certifications.

Stop the Bleed
(Hemorrhage Control Training)
The Stop the Bleed course provides information on bleeding as a life-threatening emergency. Participants will gain knowledge in recognizing life threatening bleeding and develop skills in use of direct pressure, tourniquets, and wound packing as methods to control bleeding (1-hour).

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Loma Linda University Health is pleased to offer the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program in partnership with the Loma Linda City Fire Department.
CERT Training
The CERT provider course is taught in eight units, plus a final exercise, totaling 20 hours of training.

Completion of all eight sessions + final exercise is required to obtain the CERT Course Certificate of Completion. Participants must be 18 years of age or older.

Patient Evacuation Device Training
The Patient Evacuation Device Training focuses on effective facility evacuation. Participants will focus on reverse triage, preparing the patient for evacuation, and developing skills using the Sled2Go patient evacuation device for horizontal and vertical (stairway) evacuation.

Education in emergency management provides information and knowledge on emergency functions at LLUH and seeks to build a resilient and capable workforce in the face of emergencies and disasters. |
Hospital Incident Command System (HICS)
The Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) course provides a foundational understanding of organizational emergency response within the Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) framework. Employees that report to the LLUH Command Center are required to complete this course, while managers, directors, and leaders are highly encouraged to complete this course. The LLUH HICS course provides FEMA IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700 equivalency. (4 hours)
