How Can I Protect Myself from Radiation?

Protection from radiation sources is largely a matter of common sense:

  1. Become familiar with the signs and symbols that are posted.
  2. Don't disturb items or areas labeled "Radioactive."
  3. Stay as far away from radiation sources as possible.
  4. Don't spend unnecessary time in places identified as "Radiation Area."
  5. Ask questions if you don't understand.

Your area supervisor and the Office of Radiation Safety are here to provide you with information, training, and protective equipment when necessary.
