Biological Effects and Risks

The biological effects and risks associated with exposure to ionizing radiation have been studied more thoroughly than those from any other hazardous agent found in the laboratory environment.

Source of Information

The information that we have concerning the biological effects of radiation comes from several different sources. These are the WWII atomic bomb survivors (the largest group), medical patients, accident victims, and animal studies. These groups yield information primarily about radiogenic cancers.
