What is Ergonomics?

A "fit" between people and their work—Ergonomics combines anthropometrics (human body measurement data), physiology, and psychology in response to the needs of the users in the environment. For a workspace to be functional, both the employee and the work performed must be considered.

The goals of these webpages are to provide you with information on how to adjust your work environment to fit you and therefore, minimize your exposure to postural risk factors for MSDs. This may include not only changes to your work environment, but changes to your work posture and how you work. You will find that many of these principles apply to any work you perform, here and at home.

One of the most common workstation flaws is work HABITS. Habits are things that no one else except YOU can change. A workstation can be arranged correctly with appropriate equipment, but ultimately, YOU are responsible for safe work habits.
