Maintenance of Certification
Welcome to the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital (LLUCH) Maintenance of Certification Quality Improvement website. We are so excited to begin this journey with you and look forward to displaying LLUCH's many Quality Improvement project.
Improving Professional Practice and Quality Improvement (Part 4) of Maintenance of Certification (MOC) is designed to help you assess and improve the quality of patient care and processes that will lead to improved child health.
MOC Points
You must earn at least 40 points in Part 4 activities every five years, regardless of how many certifications you want to maintain. If you have more than one certification, the same five-year cycle will apply to all your certifications.
QI Projects
If you are engaged in or creating a QI project in your practice or setting, your project may be eligible for 25 points of MOC Part 4 credit. The ABP awards credit to structured, well-designed QI projects that are based on accepted improvement science and methodology. Submission for credit is available through Loma Linda University Pediatric Division Portfolio Sponsorship Committee.
Meaningful Participation
Meaningful participation is defined by the ABP as having an active role in the project and participating over an appropriate period of time. The ABP approves QI projects in which pediatricians are active participants in implementing change. To receive Part 4 credit for a QI project, you must:
- Be intellectually engaged in planning and executing the project;
- Implement the project’s interventions (the changes designed to improve care);
- Review data in keeping with the project’s measurement plan; and
- Collaborate actively by attending team meetings.
MOC QI Project Application
To help you apply for MOC credit, an application packet is available for submission. Our application packet includes resources for you to complete your application and includes the following:
- QI Application Checklist
- QI Project Application
- Project leader attestation form
- Physician attestation form for participating physicians
