Computed Tomography

Another type of x-ray equipment is the Computed Tomograph (CT). This equipment produces three-dimensional images based on "slices" of x-ray images viewed sequentially.

The direct beam from CT machines is much smaller and produces much less scattered radiation than in radiography or fluoroscopy. The same radiation protection measures must be taken, however, to keep exposure ALARA.
