Abusing Your System Access: Viewing Your Medical Information of that of a Loved One
System access to PHI via LLUH Electronic Health Record System (i.e., LLEAP) does not inherently give you authorization to view your own medical information or that of family members who may have currently or previously received medical attention at our facility, even if you are their proxy. Do not look up medical information in LLEAP for yourself, a family member, friends, co-workers, or anyone else without a business-related purpose. . Use your system access only for purposes of treatment, payment or healthcare operations.
Should you wish to access/view health information, including your own, for personal/non business reasons (e.g., Accessing test results, checking or scheduling appointments, etc.) you may do so through one of the following methods:
- Contacting the Health Information Management (HIM) Department;
- Contacting your physician’s office for information; and/or
- Accessing My Chart, the LLEAP patient access portal that is available to patients and all workforce members at http://mylluhealth.org/. Notice that an activation code is required to create your MyChart account. You may select “Sign up now” at the MyChart Portal and follow the instructions at https://mylluhealth.org/MyChart/signup to request access to MyChart or contact the HIM Department for assistance.
