Conversations
As a healthcare provider, we must make every effort to protect PHI by discretely discussing a patient's PHI only with persons that require that information for a job related need. Finding a private place to talk and keeping voice volumes low are just a couple of examples. Remember, something as innocent as sharing the condition of a co-worker with a fellow employee without that patient's permission is a violation of patient privacy and HIPAA.
