About DAISY

DAISY is an acronym that stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.

The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by The Barnes’ Family, in memory of their son J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created the DAISY Award to recognize the extraordinary work nurses do each and every day.
