A non-profit organization with a Loma Linda location that provides a place for families who live at a distance, to stay while their child is in the hospital or receiving ongoing medical care.  They offer comfort, care and support to the children and families.

In order to refer a family, they must meet the following criteria:

  • The patient must be newborn to 17 years of age, however, 18 to 21 years of age will be considered based on room availability.
  • The patient must be currently receiving active inpatient or outpatient medical treatment
  • There is no mileage restriction, however, based on the number of requests, occupancy availability, distance and diagnosis, families that live close to the hospital may experience a longer wait time.

Please Note: A room request does not guarantee a reservation, all efforts are made to accommodate everyone. Same day requests are welcome. The Room Referral must come from the Loma Linda Children’s Hospital social worker.

The following criteria will be discussed with the family:

  • California Children’s Services Eligibility and any possible assistance with the daily room contribution.
  • A valid, non-expired photo identification for any adult, over the age of 18, staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

Consultations may be sought at any of the hospitals or clinics affiliated with Loma Linda University Health. They are provided by trained and experienced clinical ethicists and may be requested by anyone involved in the care of a particular patient.

Issues that often lead to ethics consultation include:

  • decision-making for a patient without family,
  • decisions about limitation of treatment,
  • interpretation of written advance directives (Durable Powers of Attorney for Healthcare, Living Wills),
  • instances when it is not clear if the patient has capacity to make his or her own treatment decisions,
  • management of infants born with life-threatening anomalies,
  • resolution of conflict about treatment decisions,
  • and many other issues.
