  1. Why do I need a PATS appointment?
    A:
    The PATS team is here to work directly with anesthesia in order to provide a safe anesthetic experience. In order to evaluate you a PATS appointment is necessary to discuss your current and past health problems; then based on that information assess the need for any testing or evaluation prior to surgery.
  2. Can my PATS appointment be done on the day of my procedure?
    A:
    Your PATS appointment cannot be completed the day of surgery. We perform the PATS visit prior to the date of surgery in order to prevent delays or cancellations by evaluating you, your health and by obtaining any necessary testing prior to surgery.
  3. What do I need to bring?
    A:
    Please bring your medication list to your PATS appointment including the name of the medication, dosage and frequency in which you take the medication. We also ask that you bring your photo ID and current insurance card. If applicable please bring copies of guardianship/foster legal documents, advanced directive, immunization record, previously completed pre-operative testing and the contact information of any specialty providers that you see.
  4. Why does the appointment take so long?
    A:
    The appointment time at PATS does take time due to it encompassing whole person care. You will be seeing multiple members of our team including registration, medical assistant, registered nurse and the Nurse Practitioner or resident Physician.
  5. Do I need to fast for the PATS appointment?
    A:
    The tests that we will be performing at your PATS appointment do not require fasting.
  6. If I have questions about my surgery, who do I call?
    A:
    Questions that are related to your surgery or procedure, recovery and disability forms need to be directed to your surgeon’s office.
  7. When do I talk to someone about pain management?
    A:
    You will be discussing pain management with several people prior to surgery including the Nurse Practitioner at your PATS appointment.
  8. Who do I call if I can’t make if for my PATS appointment or procedure?
    A:
    If you have any questions related to your PATS appointment you can call us at (909) 558-3611 and at that time you will be directed to the appropriate personnel.
  9. Who do I call if I have questions about my PATS appointment?
    A:

  10. What do I need to do if I have a pacemaker and/or defibrillator?
    A:
    If you have a pacemaker and/or defibrillator, please bring a copy of your device identification card to your PATS appointment.  You will need to have your device checked (interrogated) by your cardiologist prior to surgery.
  11. Can I have all of my required pre-operative testing completed at the time of my PATS visit?
    A:
    This is dependent on your insurance and we will notify you at your PATS appointment if we can complete them at PATS or if you will need to see your primary care provider to have the testing completed prior to surgery.
