Moment 3: While in patient zone, after body fluid exposure risk

WHY:
- To protect yourself and to reduce the extent of potential contamination in the patient zone.
WHEN: (examples not a complete list)
- After any procedures: See Moment 2.
- After any potential/actual contact to body fluids: e.g., blood, sputum, urine, vaginal secretions.
TO PREVENT: Infections in HCWs and/or cross contamination of the healthcare environment
- After touching a patient the HCW has the patient’s micro-organisms on their hands; these micro-organisms can be transferred to whatever the HCW touches next.
