Third Party Payers

Healthcare services are largely paid for by third party payers such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Humana, Medicaid and Medicare. Designated personnel may share or release protected health information (PHI) with a third party payer without patient authorization if the third party payer is listed as the responsible party for the adjudication and payment of a patient specific claim.
