21st Century CURES Act – Patient Online Access
Under the 21st Century Cures Act, healthcare providers must make a patient’s own health information available to them online (with some exceptions), in a timely manner, at no cost. Patients who have signed up for MyChart already have online access to their health record; however, effective March 22, 2021, even more information will be made available to patients via MyChart. When patients have convenient access to their health information, they have the tools they need to more actively participate in their own care. For this reason, providers should continue to encourage patients to sign up for MyChart.
