Patient Controlled Epidural Analgesia (PCEA) with Yellow Faceplate and Lockbox
- An epidural catheter is placed to provide pain relief to the abdomen, thorax, and lower extremities by enabling the injection of medications into the epidural space, decreasing the possibility of the side effects associated with systemic opioid administration.

General Information
Information on Demand Keys (See Reference Card for Keys
- 1 = Date and Time (can ONLY be changed by Clinical Engineering)
- 2 = Remaining battery power
- 4 = Holds screens for 6 seconds
- 5 = Hourly Totals for last 3 hours
- 6 = First screen of programming
- 7 = Information on Basal, Bolus, Bolus Interval, Number of Boluses/Hr
- 0 = Total amount of medication available within the hour
Changing a Basal Rate Or Bolus Amounts
- Press PAUSE
- Press YES to RESUME
- Press NO key to REVIEW program
- Press YES to accept each line (advances cursor)
- Enter access code
- Make change to basal rate
- Press YES to confirm each line
- When cursor is on DONE, press YES
- Press RUN to resume infusion
Review Hourly Totals
- Press #5 Key, OR
- Press ‘pink’ Options button (while the pump is running)
- Scroll down to “Hourly Totals”
- Press NO to change OFF to ON, then press YES
- View hourly totals (Boluses Given, Bolus Attempted)
- 07 = 0700 = 0759
- Use
to see more totals
Reviewing Hourly Totals (for the last 3 hours, press #5 on keypad)
- With pump running, press Help/OPTIONS key
- Move cursor to HRLY TOT
- Press NO/Change key to change “off” to “on”
- Press YES to view Hourly Totals
- Cursor will land on current hour in progress, e.g., 07 is for 0700-0800
- Use UP arrow to scroll backwards hour by hour
- Press NO/Change key to exit
- Press YES to continue
Hanging a New Bag
- Press PAUSE
- With cursor on REPEAT RX, Press YES (RESUME” only applies to SAME bag)
- Pump auto-scrolls through prescription
- When new bag is in place, press RUN
Pausing and Resuming Same Container
- Press PAUSE
- When cursor is on NEW PROGRAM press YES (If Access Code is required, enter it)
- Enter new values and press YES at each field
- Press YES when cursor is DONE
- Press RUN to start infusion
Clinician DOSE:
- Press HELP/OPTIONS key (pump running)
- Move cursor to Clin DOSE
- Press NO/Change Key to change from “OFF” to “ON” (If locked, enter access code and repeat previous step)
- Press YES to access Clinician Dose Screen.
- Enter Clinician Dose amount and press YES
- Press YES to accept and exit the screen
- Press YES at ACCEPT OPT to exit Options
Changing the Bag
- Press PAUSE
- With cursor on REPEAT RX, Press YES (RESUME” only applies to SAME bag)
- Pump auto-scrolls through prescription
- When new bag is in place, press RUN
Stopping the Infusion
- Press PAUSE
- Press OFF
