Employee Training
Employee training consists of an hour tutorial that will demonstrate how to:
- View expiring licenses
- Open a current schedule
- Self-schedule
- Enter trades
- Enter requests to work
- Enter unavailability requests
- Establish event subscriptions
- Print your schedule
The Staffing and Scheduling Employee Training Tutorial is maintained within the OWL portal to ensure employees receive proper credit for completing the tutorial. You can find the tutorial at: Owl Portal
- Once in the OWL portal, the tutorial is titled “Staffing and Scheduling Employee Training” (you can also use keyword INSV833)
- To receive credit for the tutorial, you must answer the quiz question at the end.
- If you registered for the Employee Training and either:
- did not take the training at the same time or
- began the training but did not finish

You do not have to re-register for the training. Look towards the top of the screen after you sign in to OWL and click on CE Online (Moodle). Sign in again using the same User ID and password. Your registered course should now appear.

Each person who will be using Staffing and Scheduling for their personal schedule is required to view this tutorial.
In addition, exempt (salaried) employees who will be managing schedules or performing daily maintenance should review the Employee Tutorial in order to provide support to their employees.

Daily Maintenance Support
The Daily Maintenance training is for Staffers, Clinical Educators, SCRNs, and other Daily Maintenance Support individuals. The training consists of one 2-hour class called Staffing and Scheduling Daily Maintenance Training. This class will teach you how to perform daily maintenance duties to ensure staffing levels are met and schedules are maintained accurately on the system.
Course Prerequisites:
- Staffing and Scheduling Employee Training (INSV833)

Supervisors & Schedulers Training
The Staffing and Scheduling Supervisor training is a live 4hr training. This class is intended for new supervisors and schedulers on departments currently utilizing the Staffing & Scheduling module in API. This class goes beyond what is covered in the Daily Maintenance training and covers creating and maintaining the entire 6-week schedule, navigating the system, reports, and filters. It also offers Supervisors and Schedulers the opportunity to ask questions.
To attend the live virtual training, register for the Staffing and Scheduling User Training (INSV6108) on OWL. Please note that the course prerequisites below must be completed prior to attending the live training.
