Information About Bus / Transit

women outline in yellow color

To be considered for the bus/transit program, an employee’s primary means of travel must be by bus/transit from their place of residence to their workplace.

Employees may drive a vehicle to a common point such as a park-and-ride facility, then transfer to public transportation for the remainder of the trip. The final leg of the trip must be at least 3 miles in one direction.

Incentives

Loma Linda University Health offers incentives to employees who commute via bus/transit. Incentives include:

  • $25 reimbursement toward the cost of the monthly bus/transit fare (remaining costs can be paid with pre-tax dollars for tax savings)
  • Quarterly raffles exclusive for rideshare members
  • Guaranteed ride home

Qualifications

Traveling by bus/transit is open to both full and part-time employees. To qualify as a bus/transit commuter under Rideshare, individuals must:

  • Travel by bus/transit an average of 3 times per week for employees who work an 8-10 hour shift
  • Travel by bus/transit an average of 2 times per week for employees who work a 12-hour shift

For employees who choose to purchase a monthly pass for Metrolink, the above qualifications do not apply. Note: the monthly pass has a standard cost.
