Safety & Reliability
The Patient Safety & Reliability department provides staff support and consultative resources for the Medical Center’s Performance Improvement Program. The Department assists in the development, evaluation, and implementation of procedures to assess and improve the quality of care and service provided to our customers. The Patient Safety & Reliability department collaborates with other departments throughout the facility to ensure quality of services that result in positive patient outcomes.
Our customers consist of medical staff members, house staff members, Medical Center administrators, and all Medical Center employees. Also included are the regulatory agencies, e.g., Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, Department of Health Services, and third party payors requesting review of the quality of patient care.
Our services include:
- Providing support staff for medical staff and QI committees
- Monitoring quality indicators for various medical services and Executive Board
- Coordinating the overall Performance Improvement Plan for LLUMC and related institutions
- Ensuring accurate and timely data collection and analysis for required programs
- Analyzing ORYX core measures for improvement opportunities
