Who We Are
Our History
Loma Linda stands on a proud heritage of pioneering spirit, unwavering trust and divine favor. Birthed more than 100 years ago, during a time when the American Medical Association (AMA) was closing scores of medical schools, the Seventh-day Adventists, under the inspiration of Ellen White and other stalwarts, bravely created “our medical school,” originally known as the College of Medical Evangelists and now Loma Linda University. Our legacy is rich with challenges and hurdles which were overcome by courage, bravery and trust in a higher power.
