Defeat sepsis. Save lives.
We want to strive to increase recognition, treat patients quickly and then deescalate therapy that might not be necessary.
Recognize:
- Using the pneumonic T.I.M.E can help with identification.
- Temperature
- Infection
- Mental Decline
- Extremely Ill
- Perform a Huddle with nurse and provider to discuss patient care.
React
- Use the order set
- Send the correct labs
- Treat with antibiotics
Re-evaluate
- De-escalate antibiotics after culture come back
