Cybersecurity Reminder: maintain unique password for your LLUH account

LLUH Information Services Security recently discovered that cyber attackers were able to log in to a student’s LLU email account by stealing the same password the student used in a personal account. As a result, the attackers were able to send out an internal phishing email using that student’s LLUH email account.
As a reminder, please create an email password that is unique to your LLUH email account. Cyber-attackers are adept at compromising passwords to LLUH accounts if you use the same password for other personal accounts. Please see this article for more details.
Also, keep in mind that Information Services would never email or call you for your password, so please do not give your password or one-time code to impersonators! Here’s an article about how scammers are exploiting one-time passcodes.
In addition, please continue to submit suspicious emails by using the “Report Suspicious” button in your Outlook menu or by forwarding to emailabuse@llu.edu.
For any questions, please contact infosecops@llu.edu.
Thank you for your help in keeping Loma Linda University Health cybersafe.
