2023 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion calendar is here!

At Loma Linda University Health, diversity, equity, and inclusion means providing opportunity and access for all people. These principles are critical to continuing the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ. We’re called to foster a culture where each person in the LLUH community feels valued, supported, and empowered to achieve individual and collective goals.
With this calling in mind, throughout 2022 the Diversity Council invited you to participate in various activities to recognize and honor diversity. Our theme in 2022 was “The Hill We Climb,” the title of Amanda Gorman’s poem read during President Biden’s inauguration that calls us to action through hope, unity, healing, and resilience.
We are excited to announce that our theme for 2023 is “I Am Because You Are” (ùɓúntʼù). This African philosophy explores the idea that humans cannot exist in isolation. Instead, we depend on community and connection - caring for each other. View the Heritage Month Recognition calendar for 2023 here.
What do you think when you read the phrase "I Am Because You Are"? We invite you to share your thoughts with us at iBelong@llu.edu throughout the year.
Monthly planned events or programming will be published on the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion One Portal page, so keep checking back!
Lastly, we encourage you to find ways within your teams to celebrate diversity and explore the idea of ùɓúntʼù – I Am Because You Are. Please share your stories or pictures with us at iBelong@llu.edu.
