Prayer Notes Photo Contest open
Entries are being accepted now for the 20th annual Prayer Notes Photo Contest. Loma Linda University Health photographers should submit their best nature photographs to be considered for use as images in the 2023 prayer note card series sponsored by the employee spiritual care office.
The annual set of prayer note cards is used to offer encouragement and spiritual encouragement to patients and employees, said Kathy McMillan, director of Employee Spiritual Care.
“Each card, similar to a postcard, has a beautiful nature photo on one side and an encouraging verse of scripture on the back,” McMillan said. “There is also a note that says, ‘I prayed for you today and asked God to bless you.' "
The submission deadline for the contest is Friday, November 11, 2022. The photographer submitting the winning photo will receive a $100 gift card. Second place will receive $75 gift card; third place receives a $50 gift card, and all other photographers who have photos selected will receive $25 gift cards.
Photos not selected for use in the Prayer Notes series may still be considered for use in the Spirit Lifters devotional email series during 2023. The Employee Spiritual Care team will contact photographers to seek permission to use their images in the Spirit Lifters emails.
Submission requirements include:
- Employees and students are encouraged to submit up to ten (10) high-resolution, color photos that they have personally taken.
- Images should depict a scene from nature and promote positive feelings such as peace, strength, hope and/or joy.
- Photos MUST be able to be cropped to 5.5” x 3.5” in either a horizontal or vertical format without losing image impact.
- Name each jpg file/photograph with the photographer’s last name, first name and location of photo. (Flowers, animals and close-ups don’t require location.)
- Images must be submitted electronically at the Prayer Notes Photo Contest Form One Portal page.
