Daily COVID-19 Update

Magnet site visitors virtually welcomed today

Welcome Video - LLUMC Magnet

This morning, employees offered a festive welcome to kick off the virtual Magnet site visit for Loma Linda University Medical Center. This morning’s employee welcome team also offered a physically distanced greeting to hospital staff beginning their day, complete with applause and colorful flags.

The three-day virtual visit is being conducted by accreditors from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Hospital leaders are color coordinating to show their support, wearing red today, blue on Tuesday, and orange on Wednesday.

Revised Fit testing

Please remember N-95 masks are for identified patient care areas or specific support departments that have been approved. Effective immediately, all employees arriving for fit testing must have both the Fit test Medical Clearance Form and written approval from their clinical department head with them. If you have any questions if this applies to your area, please call the command center.

N-95 Fit Testing has been temporarily relocated to the Wong Kerlee lobby/lounge area at the base of the stairs, Monday April 6 through Wednesday, April 8.  Fit testing will be conducted during the normally scheduled times of 0700-0900 and 1400-1600.

Fit testing will resume in Children’s Hospital 1830/32, Monday through Friday from 0700-0900 and 1400-1600, on Thursday, April 9.

Revised visitation policy

On March 20, we changed our visitation policy to no longer allow visitors in any of our adult hospitals. This policy remains in effect; however, we will be revising the way humanitarian exceptions are approved. Beginning Sunday, April 5, requests for these exceptions will be routed to the command center, who will then coordinate with the Chief of Staff or her designee. No exceptions without approval from the Chief of Staff or her designee will be made.

In addition, there will be no visitors allowed for patients under investigation for COVID-19 or patients who test positive for COVID-19 at any time. We will make every effort to connect the patients with their family/caregiver virtually when possible.

Masking for non-patient care employees

Health officials are now recommending people cover their nose and mouth when leaving their homes for essential travel during the coronavirus outbreak. Face coverings do not need to be medical grade; fabric masks or bandanas are acceptable alternatives. It is critical that we keep our surgical mask and N95 for our frontline healthcare teams.

Employees who work in non-direct patient care areas such as human resources, finance, etc. are asked to please bring a mask or face covering from home.

LLEAP system pause April 7th

A special update will be applied to the Epic electronic medical record system — known at Loma Linda University Health as LLEAP — on Tuesday, April 7, between 10:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

The update will cause a pause for approximately 10 minutes. During the pause, users can expect to see a pop-up message stating, "Environment is paused for server updates." Once the pause is complete, users should log out of LLEAP and immediately log back in.

If you have any questions, please contact the Service Desk at ext. 48889.
