To all LLUH Hospitals, Shared Services, and University employees:
We are committed to the continued safety and health of all employees, particularly as our organization monitors the growing spread of the COVID-19 virus domestically and internationally.
In response to this rapidly developing situation, a new set of travel policies has been implemented to minimize the impact of the virus spread on our organization.
Effective immediately, all business-related travel by any employee, to any domestic or international destination for the purposes of attending off-campus events, including but not limited to, conferences or seminars are now prohibited. This travel policy will remain in effect until further notice. This restriction applies to any off-site activities, including continuing education events and scholarly presentations. If you feel there is a business-critical need for travel, please contact your vice president before making any travel arrangements. Routine, necessary local travel for system operations, such as secondary site clinical work, procurements, couriers, etc., will continue as scheduled.
Any cancellation costs incurred by the implementation of this policy will be covered by departmental funds. However, any employee choosing to disregard this policy will not be eligible for reimbursement of travel-related expenses from any department funds. In addition, any quarantine necessary from such travel will not be paid unless the employee has paid leave or sick leave hours available.
Also effective immediately, we are postponing all scheduled conferences and events that bring groups of individuals from outside the organization to all Loma Linda University Health locations until April 30, 2020, or until further notice. Please speak with your vice president if you have questions about a specific event or conference.
Employees with personal travel plans should give careful consideration to following the most current CDC guidelines and recommendations for travel. Should an employee travel to a location that has CDC restrictions and/or to domestic locations where sustained community transmission, or a state of emergency is currently in effect, any required quarantine resulting from personal travel will not be paid unless paid leave or sick leave hours are available.
* This policy does not apply to LLUFMG and LLUHC employees. Please refer to the policy emailed to all LLUFMG and LLUHC employees on Monday, March 9, 2020 by entity leadership.
