Security update: vehicle burglaries on our campus

We have experienced incidents of vehicle burglaries on and close to LLUH properties over the past few weeks. The Department of Security Services is aware of these occurrences and will continue to work with local law enforcement and Administration to address this crime increase and provide necessary assistance.
We encourage students, staff, faculty and visitors to be especially vigilant of suspicious behavior.
Here are some general safety reminders:
- Close and lock all windows and doors when you park.
- Security your keys and key fobs. Do not leave extras in your vehicle.
- Never leave valuables in your vehicle. If necessary, store items in your trunk before you arrive on-site; avoid storing items in your trunk after you park.
- Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
- Walk with a companion.
- Have your cell phone in hand, but keep your eyes up. If you wear headphones, keep one ear free to hear what’s happening around you.
- Report any lost or stolen LLUH ID badges so they can be deactivated immediately.
- Use location tagging/tracking devices: Electronic tagging devices are a good resource to aid law enforcement should you become a victim of a crime. DO NOT TAKE IT UPON YOURSELF TO FOLLOW OR ATTEMPT TO LOCATE A TAG! Leave that to the law enforcement professionals.
Finally, be a good witness and report what you think is suspicious. Make note of the location, physical description, and nature of the suspicious activity.
Remember to make common sense choices to avoid placing yourself and others in potentially unsafe or at-risk situations.
We are committed to your safety and encourage you to report all crimes to Security Services. If you would like to report an incident or crime, please contact Security Operations Center at 909-558-4320 or ext. 44320 from on-campus phones or use a Blue Light Emergency Phone. Blue Light Emergency Phones are located throughout LLUH parking lots and garages. Pushing the red button on the phone automatically dials directly to the Security Operations Center.
An informed campus is a safer campus, and everyone has a role in the quality of campus life.
