Hyperbaric Medicine Service earns accreditation

Our Hyperbaric Medicine Service has received accreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). UHMS accreditation affirms the service has met or exceeded the highest standards of care and patient safety.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves medical oxygen administered in a pressure chamber at levels higher than atmospheric pressure. The therapy is intended to promote healing of wounds, serious infections, pressure-related scuba diving injuries, arterial gas embolism and other illnesses.
Launched in 1981 with one monoplace chamber accommodating a single patient, the Hyperbaric Medicine Service today operates four monoplace chambers, including a chamber that will accommodate seven-foot patients and will support patients weighing up to five hundred pounds. Loma Linda University Health is the only regional center performing critical HBO treatment and is available for medical emergencies 24 hours a day.
Congratulations to our team!
