Outside Food and Drink Restrictions

As we introduce new measures to prevent potential COVID-19 exposure within Loma Linda University Health hospitals, we are implementing limits on the types of food being brought on campus. Employees may bring food from home or purchase food in our cafeterias. But for the foreseeable future, we must prohibit food from outside vendors being delivered or being brought directly from restaurants.

Although the entry screening process is challenging, these measures have been put in place for the safety of our employees and our patients. Please remember all employees must have their Loma Linda University Health identification badge visibly displayed above their waist to enter.

While not convenient, these measures are part of our combined fight against COVID-19. Thank you for the work you are doing to care for patients and for the courtesy you are extending your co-workers during this time of unique circumstance.

New Changes to Hospital Cafeterias

Loma Linda University Health’s cafeterias are implementing a series of precautionary steps to minimize the potential for COVID-19 virus spread. These steps are effective Tuesday, March 17:

  • All self-serve items are temporarily discontinued
  • Grab-n-go items will be available for selection in most retail areas
  • Stations that are serviced by the Nutritional Service staff will have utensils changed out each time the pans are replenished
  • All handles on merchandise refrigerator and freezer doors, pizza/burrito warmers, bread/scone drawers, etc. will be sanitized every four hours
  • All condiments will be served in pre-portioned cups or in packets
  • Hospital cafeteria locations will be serving employees and screened visitors only
  • Children’s Hospital Cafeteria is closed at this time

Thank you for your continued cooperation as we deal with the COVID-19 situation on an organization-wide basis.

Drayson Center Changes

Beginning on Wednesday, March 18, Loma Linda University Drayson Center will discontinue all indoor activities through March 30, per CDC and California Department of Public Health recommendations. Based on current guidelines, outdoor activities will be allowed as long as no groups exceed 10 in number.

Drayson Center hours Monday through Thursday will be changed to 5:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. The normal Friday hours will remain 5:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Sundays will change to 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

The pool will remain open, as well as the Superfield, outdoor track, beach volleyball courts, pickleball, and tennis courts — weather permitting. The locker rooms and indoor sauna will be closed. The family restrooms located in the aquatics area and the bathrooms next to the Membership Office will remain open.

Day-to-day updates will be provided via our website and social media. Future plans beyond March 30 will be announced as decisions are made.

Please note: If the grass field is too wet for use, the synthetic turf field will be opened 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Sunday, the synthetic turf field will be opened as needed from 8 a.m. to noon.

Thank you for your understanding and participation in limiting transmission of the coronavirus.
