Governor Newsom’s latest announcement
Yesterday, Governor Newsom announced additional closures across Southern California in response to surging COVID infections and to reduce transmission. One of those actions was to close non-critical office spaces. Our leadership is reactivating the plans that were put together in March in regard to remote work and your direct supervisor will be able to communicate with you what this means for your area.
Continuous COVID-19 preparations
Our physician and hospital leadership are meeting daily to assess our volumes and appropriately manage the situation of surging cases of COVID-19. We have a carefully constructed multi-staged surge plan that focuses on care for COVID-19 patients, non-COVID-19 patients, staffing levels, and staff and patient safety.
We are currently on stage 3 for acute care and stage 2 for ICU. As COVID-19 cases increase, the hospital will transition from one stage to the next to best manage the increase of patients. Units will be converted for COVID-19-positive patient care as necessary while non-COVID-19 patients will be moved to other areas to cohort safely. Plans are also being made for an alternate care site should patient surge rates increase to the point that traditional acute care space is exhausted.
