Daily COVID-19 Update

COVID surge preparations and policy changes

In both San Bernardino and Riverside counties, we have seen the cases of COVID-19 increase over the past 14 days, and ICU hospitalizations are up. While these numbers include an increase in positive patients to our hospitals we are closely monitoring and managing the situation. Due to these increases, we have decided to take the following steps:

Virtual Command Center Reopened

A virtual Command Center will be reinstated with operating hours Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. at lluhcc@llu.edu, 909-558-8555 or ext. 88555. As with all dynamic situations, we believe central communication is essential to maximize resources and coordinate efforts.

Please first ensure your staff follow the normal chain of command regarding questions or needs.  If necessary, department leadership can then reach out to the command center.

Visitation Policy

We will also be reestablishing the previous visitation policy implemented in March. We are not allowing visitors in any of our adult hospitals, and we will allow one approved visitor per patient at the Children’s Hospital. Any humanitarian exceptions will be routed to the Chief of Staff or their designee. We understand these restrictions can be challenging, but they are part of our combined effort to protect our workforce and patients during this time.

Business-related travel restrictions through August 31

Since most professional conferences and business is being conducted virtually, we are asking that only essential travel be done through August 31 or until further notice.

This restriction applies to any off-site activities, including continuing education events and scholarly presentations.

If you feel there is a business-critical need for travel, please contact your vice president before making any travel arrangements. Routine, necessary local travel for system operations — such as secondary site clinical work, procurements or couriers — will continue as scheduled.

Any cancellation costs incurred by the implementation of this policy will be covered by departmental funds. However, any employee choosing to disregard this policy will not be eligible for reimbursement of travel-related expenses from any department funds. In addition, any quarantine necessary from such travel will not be paid unless the employee has paid leave or sick leave hours available.
