COVID-19 vaccine booster
Yesterday the Biden administration announced a plan for adults who received either Pfizer or Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine to receive booster shots starting in late September. The boosters will be offered to adults who received their second mRNA dose at least eight months earlier. The plan is contingent on both the FDA completing an independent review of the safety and effectiveness of a third dose and on the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommendations. When Loma Linda University Health receives more information after those reviews, and if they are favorable, we will communicate how and where employees and the community can obtain the third dose.
Event Guidelines
As the COVID-19 surge continues, we are reaffirming that all community events planned for the months of August, September, and October should be canceled or conducted virtually. This applies to all on- and-off campus events conducted under the Loma Linda University Health name. It is expected that Loma Linda University will conduct various meetings across campus. When possible, these should occur virtually. Student-focused events, including those with family members present, may take place with masking recommended (although not required) when outdoors and required when indoors. We will continue to keep the campus updated as we move through the coming months.
